Podcasts! Two in one week

I was a guest on two podcasts (the week of 21 Feb 2022). Not sure how that happened but, as a “shy person,” I could have used a “heaping helping” of Powdermilk Biscuits (the mythical sponsor of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion). These magical concoctions promise to give “shy persons the strength to get up and do what needs to be done.”  Alas, I faced each podcast event without the aid of any substance (except coffee, which has, by now, commingled with my blood and therefore a part of my being).

Podcast #1. Fill to Capacity

Created and hosted by my partner, visual artist, Pat Benincasa, Fill to Capacity Podcast is about everyday people with extraordinary stories. This was my second appearance on her show and it was a blast engaging with her and “the circle” of attendees who asked wonderfully provocative questions— and I’m still thinking about those questions!

Podcast #2. Jim Harold’s The Other Side

Jim, who’s affectionately known as “The Podfather,” is a true pioneer. He began his Paranormal Podcast around 2005, which is when I began listening. He’s created a number of additional podcasts (including The Other Side) has interviewed a wide swath of people who intersect under the large umbrella that is the paranormal/unexplained. I’ll admit, I was totally star-struck and I’m sure it shows. Still, Jim and his assistant, Maddy, were so gracious and made me feel welcome.

I've been a writer, actor, photographer, and musician and have worked as a freelance journalist for magazines and papers since I was in my late teens.

My favorite writing job was working for an award-winning community newspaper in Saint Paul, the Park Bugle.

I’ve also taught others how to write for community newspapers at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN. And, during the last few years, I became a family historian.
