Posts in the Graveyard - Eastland Blog

I’ve been following Jennifer’s Posts in the Graveyard on Instagram for a while now, enjoying her stunning photos of historic cemeteries. But, it wasn’t until recently that I finally visited her blog—and let me tell you, it’s an absolute treasure trove of stories about many victims of the Eastland Disaster who are buried in Chicago cemeteries.

If you’re a fan of beautiful, serene photos with a touch of history, you’ll love her Instagram. But the real magic? It’s in her storytelling. She goes beyond the gravestones, giving life to the stories of those who have long passed. It’s like a history lesson wrapped in a captivating narrative that keeps you coming back for more. You might show up for the photos, but trust me, you’ll stay for the stories.

Her posts have brought so many forgotten lives into the spotlight, and I’m so glad to be able to share her work with my own audience. If you love history, photography, or just good stories—especially about the people of the Eastland Disaster—I can’t recommend her photos and blog enough.

Check out the work of Jennifer, a self-described “Cemetery wanderer, headstone photographer, and local history blogger" and prepare to get lost in time.

I've been a writer, actor, photographer, and musician and have worked as a freelance journalist for magazines and papers since I was in my late teens.

My favorite writing job was working for an award-winning community newspaper in Saint Paul, the Park Bugle.

I’ve also taught others how to write for community newspapers at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN. And, during the last few years, I became a family historian.
